The Employment Law group of Susman, Duffy & Segaloff, P.C. represents a diverse client base in a broad range of employment related matters. Attorneys in the Group have substantial experience advising clients ranging from small businesses to publicly traded corporations, from professional practices to municipalities, in both their day to day human resources concerns and their long-term strategies involving employees.

We have negotiated numerous employment contracts, non-competition agreements and severance agreements on behalf of our clients, and we have taken an active role in assisting clients with their ongoing development of employee policies and manuals, keeping clients abreast of changes in law and policy. We pride ourselves on responding quickly and efficiently to our clients’ needs.

While we recognize the cost to our clients of administrative actions and litigation, and strive to help our clients avoid these paths where possible, we have also defended employers before administrative agencies such as the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Connecticut Department of Labor. We have successfully litigated numerous employment matters in both courtside and jury cases and on appeal, including wrongful termination, discrimination and trade secret cases. The firm recently successfully defended the Mayor of a Connecticut municipality before a federal jury and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in a claim brought by a former employee claiming retaliatory discharge. In addition to our litigation successes, we work hard to keep costs down by thorough initial evaluation of the case and early exploration of exit strategies and alternative dispute resolution.
