MATTHEW C. SUSMAN

Matthew C. Susman joined Susman, Duffy & Segaloff in 1988
and has been a partner in the firm since 1991. Matthew’s
practice emphasizes the representation of banks and other financial
institutions in both lending transactions and complex workouts,
debt restructurings and bankruptcy matters. He is actively involved
in the representation of municipalities with respect to both development
and privatization projects and bonding and other financing transactions,
serving as both issuer’s and underwriter’s counsel.
Matthew also represents real estate developers, particularly with
respect to financing and acquisition transactions, as well as
business clients in matters ranging from choice of entity and
business formation to asset and stock purchase and sales, and
individual clients with respect to business succession and estate
planning issues.
He serves on the Executive Committee of the Commercial Law and
Bankruptcy Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. Mathew serves as the Hamden representative on the Board of Directors
of the South Central Connecticut Regional Economic Development
Corporation and is President of the Regional Growth Partnership
Development Corporation.
Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University
and received his law degree from the Fordham University School
of Law. Prior to joining the firm, Matthew practiced law in Burlington,
Vermont and New York City, and he is admitted to the Connecticut,
New York and Vermont bars. Matthew and his family live in Hamden.
